SIR E.U - RETURN OF THE KINGS

Daran Benjamin & Uptown Steezy "Say Something" Freestyle

INTERVIEW: THE PUNCH LINE PERFECTIONIST: CHAUNDON

So there are probably a hand full of artists that i actually keep up with and listen to their music faithfully, Chaundon is one of those few individuals. For you who have not heard of Chaundon, you dont know hip-hop( just my opinion ). Chaundon is definitely not new to the game and has been ripping mics since you were probably a baby. I like to thank Chaundon for Graciously spending a few mins from his busy schedule to speak with me about his new album, inspirations, and his plans for the future.

1. We all know they should know who you are but please explain to the readers who you are for the people that dont know...

I am the Bronx Borough President, The Punch Line Perfectionist, Chaundon! I am an emcee who has done songs with a lot of your favorite rappers and worked with a number of legends!! I also record more music than 2 Pac in his prime.

2. So I'm going to skip all the boring questions and get to the point, talk to us about the new album...

The new album NO EXCUSES is the type of album that people have been waiting for since 1997!! Its a complete cohesive album that contains dope beats, dope rhymes, vivid stories, and I'm dropping a few gems on there. There are 14 tracks on the album and there are no rap features on there. The only features I have are Darien Brockington, Carlitta Durand, Bishop, Erica Thompson, & Big Dho on the hooks.

3. How did you get started in the game?

After being inspired by my peers in Hunts Point, I made a name for myself in high school and in college. Once the buzz started growing in NC with the Justus League, it became official.

4. How did you get linked up with 9th Wonder and Little Brother?

I linked up with Little Brother back in 1999 when we attended North Carolina Central University.

5. I know you did some tracks with sean price how did the whole link with he and duckdown come about?

I got the honor to link up and record with the "Boot Camp Clik" when they started making their trips to NC to record their albums. After a couple of visits, a lot of weed and alcohol, I recorded my 1st song with Sean P for his album "Jesus Price Superstar". After that, I got the chance to work with the team. I just did a joint with General Steele produced by Shuko! Can't wait for yall to hear that.

6. Who are your influences present and past?

My influences in the past began with the artists in my neighborhood. It was because of my boys Fred Black & Mike Smooth(r.i.p) who influenced me to rap in the first place. I was in awe of the attention they commanded and the way women flocked just because of how they rocked a show. So I decided to do the same! Then after listening to "Long Live The Kane" I was convinced on becoming an emcee for real. My other influences are Slick Rick, G Rap, Craig G, Big L, Lord Finesse, and the list goes on!!

7. Who are some of your new favorite mc's and producers coming into the game?

My favorite new mc's and producers.....well here's a short list because we will be here all day lol
Producers: D.K. The Punisher, Shuko, Mo Heat, Ill Mind, Analogic, M-Phazes, and Metro Beats just to name a few.
MC's: Little Brother of course, Pac Div, Drake, Food Chain, Tanya Morgan, & The Low Budget Crew just to name a few.

8. Who would you most want to collab with?

I would like to collab with Drake, Pac Div, Kanye, Joel Ortiz, Royce Da 5'9, and Uncle Luke!

9. Can you tell the people what chaundon.com and the imo show is about?

The point of www.chaundon.com and The IMO Show is to rebuild the Hip Hop Community. I give unsigned artists a platform to be seen and heard, minus the red tape that comes along with being featured on bigger sites. I don't require a co-sign to give a new artist a shot. I only require DOPE MUSIC. Another reason for the creation of both brands were for the fans. Everyday people complain that they hate the radio, video shows, and they can't find great music. So I figured to supply the demand. Now there are no more room for excuses. I offer an outlet for fans to hear music that wont be played on radio or even college radio on the IMO Show.

10. What do you have planned in the future?

I am currently writing a cook book and plan to shoot 13 episodes sometime this summer for my cooking show. I will leak more info on that at a later date once things are in motion. Other than that, I have another album done that's produced by Shuko and The Gunna. No release date for that as of yet. On the low, I got 3 albums in the stash. STAY TUNED

11. Is there anything else that you would like to tell your supporters and the readers?

Support www.chaundon.com Become a member and spread the word! Support your favorite artists by PURCHASING their music. We all know this thing is all about numbers. So if you buy the records from the artists you respect they will succeed and the game will change.

CHAUNDON HAS WORKED WITH LITTLE BROTHER, 9TH WONDER, SEAN PRICE, SKYZOO AND MANY MANY MORE JUST TO NAME A FEW.

The Herbaliser- Generals

dope dope track.

poem by Bël Bambini

I wrote a poem for you; not really for you but about you. This is how I feel "and shit".

*I compiled this while I was sleep in my brain; Sorry for all the 'and shit's its POETRY.*

So basically I like you and shit
But I don't know if like
your right for me and shit

Yeah your cool
and funny as shit
but that don't stop
you from having
groupies and shit

I mean look at me and look at them
there is some badd(er) bitch *with a phat ass, some nice thighs,
and a craving sex-atite*
out that you could have
so you wouldn't be serious with me.

Sometimes I don't even know why I bother
we will never be

My crush is crushed
because I came to this realization:

I should just stay being your "son"

I stand no chance
and thats what hurts the most.
