What is hip hop music?

What is hip hop music? i thought i knew, but dependin on what the day, i dont know what to tell ya'l..... Hip hop as a culture was a masterpiece painted by folks with no art supplies , no training no nothing. Even as the nusic and cultrue has become the most dominate force in american pop cultrue, we need to sit back and ask ourselves, what is hip hop music? do we even control this medium? do we as consumers of the culture know what's hot? who gets on the radio?
